Nintendo In The 1970s And 80s – The Birth Of The NES

During the 1970s and 1980s, the Game and Watch and the Nintendo Entertainment System were both released. In 1974, Nintendo bought the distribution rights of Japan for the Magnavox Odyssey, and together with Magnavox, they produced the Color-TV Game, the first video game system to use a microprocessor.

Between 1977 and 1980, The Color-TV Game eventually produced five series, each of which featured a different game. Nintendo began concentrating on arcade games during this time period and founded its American subsidiary in New York City in 1979.

The first 64-bit home gaming system, the Nintendo 64, was released in the early nineties. The Rumble Pak, another product from Nintendo, allowed users to experience sensations whilst still playing.

Nintendo In The 2000s – GameCube, Wii, And Switch

The Nintendo DS, the handheld console\’s next generation, was introduced in 2004 and by 2006, it had become the most widely used device of its kind. When the Wii was released in 2006 with its unique motion control mechanism, it attracted players from both the traditional and non-traditional gaming worlds.

During this time, a tonne of new video games and Wii-related gear was released. When the Nintendo 3DS was released in 2011, gamers could enjoy stereo 3D without the use of special glasses.

In 2014, Nintendo unveiled the Wii U, the Wii\’s successor. The Wii U\’s main controller also featured a touch screen, making it the first gaming system to offer HD visuals. The Wii U was only manufactured until 2017 and was not nearly as popular as the Wii.

The Nintendo Switch, Nintendo\’s newest console, was introduced in the early summer of 2017. Nintendo has sold more than 91 million Switch units since its release. Games from some of the company\’s most well-known franchises, such as Mario, Pokémon, and even Kirby, have continued to be released.

The Switch has maintained its popularity throughout the course of its five-year existence thanks to the release of more well-known games each year, including, yes, yet another entry in The Legend of Zelda series.

The Nintendo Switch OLED, which has a better portable screen and a few other minor changes like more storage and a better kickstand, was also recently announced by Nintendo, along with the Nintendo Switch Lite, a handheld-only model.
